Seneca Lake from Sunup to Sundown-And Musings from an Overactive Mind

I've been meaning to do a post of the lake from sunrise to sunset for quite some time, and I finally got my chance.

The only thought I had about it at the time of taking them was how magnificent mother nature is. How breathtaking. But now, after looking through them, I realize what a perfect metaphor they are for the passage of time. The day begins and the day ends, and life is the same way. Here, in this place ruled by time.

Lately it's been more and more on my mind- aside from faith, what do we really have that explains what to expect from a life after this one? I'm not asking about proof of a life after this one, because I know there is one.

I feel it in the wind when I stand on the rocky shore, I see it reflected in the clouds. I sense it deep within, and even all of you, the friends I've made here that I have never met, confirm this. We are immortal living spirits having an earthly experience...but where do we come from? And where do we go?

These are rhetorical questions for anyone tempted to tell me about Heaven or turning into energy, or the next dimension. All of which are fun theories, but the truth is- we don't know, because we can't remember.

Which begs the questions: If we don't know where we came from, how we got here or why, then maybe that's a big clue. Maybe we are not supposed to know, we are just supposed to experience. This life, right now.

These are just some ideas occurring to me at the moment. Being a seeker the notion that I will suddenly give up questing is pretty far-fetched.

But maybe, just for a little while, I will quiet my thoughts and just be.

Breath-taking photos, @dreemit!

How in the hell are you so multi-talented? I'm so jealous, lol! I can't take a proper snap to save my life, lol! :)

Those pictures would look great as my desktop wallpaper on my computer. Whenever I get a case of "writer's block" and need some deep inspiration, these would provide the perfect solution! :)

Thanks for sharing, just awesome... like you! :)

Aw, Ez, you just made my whole day :) I have no idea where this came from, it's a new thing for me. But I also happen to live in an ideal spot for it.

You are welcome to any and all of them, I love the thought of them being your wallpaper. Jed did the same not long ago.

I have the childish urge to say No you are, haha, but really I tell people about you and awesome is definitely a description I use :)

I definitely did, my brother! And, I save a lot of @dreemit's other scenic photos as well. It seems our sister has found a calling in photography :)

nice arrangement of photos and observations from where you are standing both internally and externally. thanks!

Aw thanks Franky! (Looking forward to some posts from you....;)

Impossible not to come to a deep thought with these beautiful images, alone invite a reflection, aque you can be silent the mind flies through these beautiful images.
Thank you very much dear friend @dreemit for these thoughts and the beautiful photos
Have a great weekend
I greet all your family.

Oh wow, are we going to swim there when I come visit?

This is absolutely beautiful.
The most serene things in life is nature.
What camera do you use?

Thank you :) I agree. It's a Canon PS 180.

Great pictures.
I will follow you :D

Thank you ;)

Love the photos will be following you :)

Thank you so much, appreciate that ;)

Beautiful pictures, how long have you been doing this???

I appreciate that ;) Not very long- I'm a fiction writer, recently realized I loved taking pictures :)

I'm not sure which I like best - the photos, the musings or the conclusion!

Maybe we are not supposed to know, we are just supposed to experience. This life, right now.

That seems like a new, but very important, thought.

Amazing shots. Thanks for sharing. Upvoted!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed them!

I truly enjoyed reading your post. Living near a lake myself and not only felt close to the day of a life of a lake but also close to your thoughts around our existence. I belief I will finally have the answer in the last second of my life but seeking the answer keeps me alive....

The weather brings out the best and worst of nature ... seeing it in different light evokes a different inner sensation ... thanks for sharing. Followed you.

Perhaps we did once know our true reason and purpose but have forgotten it and are too embarrassed to admit it. Maybe if we start stripping away all of the layers of life which we know to be false we will be left with the truth once again!

;)

Wow, beautiful impressions and thoughts!!!
Are these taken with the new "steem-powered" cam? :)

Oh shoot! That cover would've been amazing for part 2 of the last SILVER LINING!! All the existential questions that came along with it fit with the theme as well. I guess this is what really sets humans apart from the other animals--that ability to question what's beyond. I wonder if all the living creatures ask what happens when we expire. These are all daily questions for me, and I'm glad to hear I'm not alone :D

Beautiful photos! They are very good!

Finally! I was beginning to think that having that lake so close had dreemit taking it for granted (Except for some wednesdays ;) )
Im sorry I haven´t been so active commenting but you know, the trail is a demanding lover...
