Garden of Life

The loveliness of you never escapes me
May I gaze upon you, always and a day?

First, we must have a flower. Always a flower.

This last May or somewhere in that vicinity, I went to the nursery to peruse their plant and seed section. I bought packets of seeds and some starter plants to plant in the flower garden. I'm sure you did too!

"Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?"

The progress was amazing, especially mixing in last years perennials and this year's additions. Add a dash of torrential rain now and again, and then again this week. Well, we have an abundance right now. Yes. We are living in the land of plenty right now. While some flowers start fading at the end of the season, there are others that really shine in the waning days of summer into the first part of fall. I am counting out my days.

It was not without hardship, all of these different flowers, every single one of them with distinctly opposing growing cycles and watering needs. Most flowers need some sun or indirect sun, and some type of nutrients to help them grow, some less than others. However, there were sun and heat beyond normal for this spring, then it continued for almost a whole month. Still, they persevered. They did not disappoint and they still continue to put out the beauty.

Dahlia and Marigold - they always seem to be winners in my garden.

Admittedly, I got Clematis envy and planted it well after the other plants. I thought it might be too late in the season, but, it did really well and put out many flowers. It exceeded all of my expectations. I can't ask for anything more!

I have to admit, I have become a nursery snob. I used to buy mine at one of the Big Box stores such as Lowe's or Home Depot, or something like that. Since I have become loyal to my nursery, my plants seem to thrive better, have less mold/mildew problems. Coincidence? Perhaps. But, perhaps not. So, I continue to go to the same place and buy all my flowers and my vegetable seedlings. (and seeds!)

They do a lot of the potting themselves and have even come to my house to check out what was eating my plants. This was a courtesy visit from them, which, I will be forever grateful. They really care about their customers!

They were able to help me with the problem and get me on the right track. I didn't realize I was watering too much in that area. It didn't get as much sun as most of the other areas and the ground had some clay in it, so it didn't drain as well. You really should wait for the ground to become dry before you give it more water. Lesson learned.

I was, and still am exceedingly happy with the updated results of my beloved garden. Every day, the flowers sway in the breeze, nodding their heads good morning. It's the little things in life. I smile back, grateful for the beauty.

Flowers really do intoxicate me. ~Vita Sackville-West

My hydrangea is so very special. It stands alone with this distinction. Just this one. They are all beautiful, but, this one came with me when I moved from another house, a house with so many memories. So many very good times, so much laughter and so much life... and then, in the middle of the night, when nobody was looking, a life-changing event invaded my life. Changing it forever. A few years later, when I moved, I took my little hydrangea with me. I give it special attention, wanting it to stay healthy and grow old with me.

Yes! There is something alluring about blue flowers! They are bold and beautiful! I love them!

I love all different kinds of flowers. Every year, I have such a hard time choosing flowers when I go to the nursery. I love them all and this makes the task so much harder. In the end, it all works out and I am pretty sure that there is no wrong flower, just wrong places to plant them.

More land in which to spread the seed is what I really need.

Words have some degree of inadequacy
When I gaze upon your loveliness
You speak without saying a word
Or maybe a few, if perchance
There are whispers of the heart and love
My love, my love
How could I deny you
The first chance of the season
To make it all right
Once again

Today is another perfect day for another perfect day.

To think that it all started with a seed. Seeds are what got me hooked on plants and now I harvest the seeds from the flowers and vegetables every year, carefully letting them dry and then putting them in a place that is cool and dry until the next season. Oh, yes. It all began with a tiny little seed.

As always, thank you for visiting and reading hope that you will be sharing your world with me, I look forward to reading. Have a wonderful week ahead!

One last flower.

Don't ever forget what wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, so we must try harder to give everyone the proper focus.

Thank you!

Another wonderful post in such a short time. I think you miss Steemit and us ... beyond all the temptations and news.
A perfect demonstration of what can be done with some beautiful photos of flowers. Many of your garden problems I have myself, thank you for your information and help.
Hydrangea is wonderful and I understand very well why you took it with you. I understand that it links to the previous house and the wonderful life spent there. Life, unfortunately, can change in a second. I am sorry.

In the blink of an eye, everything in your life can change. I do have problems in my garden from time to time but, that is why I love my garden people. They are so helpful and even come to the house for no charge!

Funny, I do miss Steemit and everyone associated with it. Meh... The news... I started with nothing and if I go out with nothing, I will have had a good time. So, there is that. If it turns around like I hope it will, I will still be here.

Time will tell. But, I will keep pushing the platform and supporting it.

I was talking about steemit. I started, like you, with no money and if it all went away tomorrow, I would have lost nothing except for friendships. Which, in my opinion, I would find at another social media site. After TSU went dark and ran away with all of our money, I have learned to never count my chickens before they are hatched... or the check is in the mail.. ;)

Yes I understand. I have to admit that I invested the big amount of $ 10! Ha ... I lost a few thousand in the years when I tried online business.
I'm no longer interested in winning, I've given up bots and selfvotes.
I believe that a post after I worked hard, if not earn some money it looks like it has no value. That's why I paid a small amount of money to bots, so it seemed like it was voted.
Now I don't care!
However I would not like to start over in another social network ...

That is the problem with so many on here. I see amazing posts every day get pennies and excellent post, put together well and well written ... it weakens the heart to want to keep putting them out for nothing.

Yet, really poor posts, just because they from someone who is popular get a bunch of money. I don't understand.

I don't mind working weku for a while. I don't put much into it, but, for now it is okay.

Yes, that disconcerts me too. It's probably hard to be different.
I thought you were less present here due to Weku. I don't believe in Weku. Now I just say my opinion, it does not mean I'm right and I don't want to influence anyone.
I understand that rewards are now virtual. For the currency to get value will be an ICO. You will have to buy the new currency ... the money will be lost. That's what I think. I bought two new coins through ICO and I both lost.

It's true. The rewards are virtual. Good thing I am not in it for the money!! I have been absent from all platforms for a few days, but, continue to post to the very quiet platform here to support my steemit!

It is my first choice, but, they need to make some changes.

What can I say? It feels a disappointment...I understand that you say. As in a marriage, you don't like your partner so much and you've met someone who looks more attractive. Probably a divorce?

Yes, indeed ... life can change in a second, unfortunately in the vast majority of cases ... in the bad. Once again, I'm sorry you went through such moments.
When you say you started with nothing you mean Steemit or the new platform now in vogue?

Such a gorgeous set of shots quite delightful

Have a wonderful week

Thank you so much, JJ. I'm not quite sure it has decided what it is doing out there today! I hope it turns to be a quiet week in your word and you have a most wonderful week!

Yeah it should be a good week work wise i hope and now I hope I have not tempted fate

Shhhhh!

Lovely post, Denise. I totally agree with you: there is no such thing as too many flowers. I love them all...all colors, shapes and scents.
My favorite are the spring flowers and roses. This is the reason I don't like winter...no more flowers in the garden. But I think I have the perfect solution: turning my apartment into a garden.
Flowers require so much care and attention...just like a baby. But the happiness we feel when they bloom makes it all worthwhile.

Yes: first is a flower, always a flower. 🙂

It is so true!!! First is a flower. Always a flower.

Everything else after that is just filler. :) Oh, someday, I want to make a hothouse for the winter months, so I can grow them in there.

Thank you for stopping by and for the lovely comment!

Wow! Having a greenhouse so you could enjoy the flowers' beauty during the winter is a great idea. A lot of work but it's worthwhile.
Sorry for the late reply but I'm still trying to figure out what fertilizer will grow RCs faster. 😂

One of the best publications I've seen this week, the words merge with the magnificent photos. A great job. Thanks for sharing

Thank you so much!

you have some really great skills, i love how you can capture the fur on the flower stems :) super amazing :)

I love flowers. My grandmother had many flowers, my Mom still does at 84. I don't do mine as good as they have done theirs. Every year I want massive amounts, knowing I can never care for them all to the end. Still, I bring them home and some make it through while others do not. I try to make up for it in spinners and colorful garden doodads. Not the same I know. If only I had inherited their energy too.

Enjoyed your flower photos.... like always.

{{hugs}}
