Mesjid Raya sumatra Barat, merupakan mahligai kebanggaan masyarakat minangkabau, desain arsitektur mesjid ini berbentuk atap rumah tradisional minangkabau, yg lebih terkenal dengan nama "atok bagonjong", yg dipadukan dgn ukiran khas daerah minangkabau. Bangunan ini merupakan konsep arsitektur kontemporer moderen yg menggabungkan unsur moderen dengan unsur etnic
