Old Times, Old Tools And Some Colours

Yesterday I had a post about Colours To The Gray World and today I'd like to add more to it.

It's been snowing outside, I should be out taking lovely snowy photos because who knows how long it will last, but I'm stuck inside and have to use what I have, which is my photographs taken during the year.

One of the advantages of digital photography is that you can take as many photo as you want, of course if you have a pretty decent memory card, which we all have. I remember the times where digital photography was non-existent, you had to use film, which was expensive and rare as well. You did not have the luxury of going out to take photos and coming home with 400 - 500 photos.

I remember I was 15 or so when my cousin asked my dad to take a couple of photos of her because she needed some photos. My dad gave me the camera and told me I have to do it. Up until then I was never allowed to use the camera because of the shortage of film and all that needed to develop the film at home. He told me what to pay attention to, gave me a couple of instructions and off we went. No pressure, right?

So we went out to my favorite park, looked for a place with a nice background, took out the photometer and measured the light.

Yes, you're right, you had to measure the light in order to know how to set the camera. This is the photometer I went out with that day. Still have it :)

Have you ever seen such a tool? It's pretty coll though, looking back to those times after all these years. I can really appreciate the modern, digital tools we have now.
