So, I was shooting my friend's band at a music festival. He plays the Hammond B3 and very well (Donna the Buffalo). Well, Bela Fleck was slated to play with his then fiance, Abigal Washburn the next day in the afternoon. No one realized that John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin, showed up with Bela to sit in those afternoon shows at this point.
Of course, many people would recognized John Paul Jones from his pictures in the 1970s, but he is not a high-profile music presence publically like he was then; So, I did not realize it was him when he was sitting side stage watching the show.
I had been a seasoned festival photographer by this point in my life and was not usually "starstruck" and was always really welcomed in the backstage area for photography and hanging out.
Well, growing up, Led Zeppelin was one of those bands that shaped many memories of my youth. When Mr. Jones walked in the backstage area while my friend's band was taking a break; and started inquiring about sitting in for a few songs, myself as well as my bro Dave were both speechless and starstruck.
I grabbed a few photos of him sitting in, from a music lover's standpoint, it was a dream come true. I am not sure if this is something to be shared in Photography, or in Music (I may do both)-
Kindest Regards,
If you like what you see, follow me for a daily variety of things from my life and mind.
Here are the photos of him sitting in the next day with Bela and Abigal- just for fun ;-)
(Love the look on Abigal Washburns face)
