Eurasian Collared-Dove (Original Photos/Videos)

I spotted a bird I do not usually see at my bird feeders, an Eurasian Collared-Dove.

Photographs taken on 11 August 2018.

Seldom Seen

Even though Nebraska is well within the year-round range of the Eurasian Collared-Dove, I rarely see one at my bird feeders. I was fortunate enough to spot the Eurasian Collared-Dove at the feeders this day. However, I was not close to the camera in the window. I knew that if I made any quick moves I could scare the Eurasian Collared-Dove away. So I slowly crept up on the camera to take a few photos and a video clip.

The Eurasian Collared-Dove is bigger than a Mourning Dove and slightly smaller than a pigeon.

Wow what a lovely photographs you have taken! Really it's very hard to take photographs of bird, you taken nicely, i also taken a photographs of bird few months ago that was my first photographs of bird, bird was having some food for this got a chance to take photographs, have a look

20180619_102919.jpg

Those are very nice photographs of the pigeon.

You are right that it is hard to capture good photos of birds and I will even say animals in general.

I had to decrease the exposure time to get the best shots. Some birds do not sit still.

For birds and other animals, I take a lot of photos and only publish the ones that come out. For the dove in my blog post, I had several photos where the dove's movement caused too much blur. I scrapped those photos.

Have a great week!

@tangera great pic!!! plz visit my page i also do photography! help me do better!

Nicee!!! me like :D

Really ??? Follow me

Love it haha xD

It is really difficult for me to take photographs of birds, you are an inspiration that it is possible to take such a great photo of a bird, thanks, I am just a beginner.

Everyone starts as a "beginner". I had a lot of practice before some success. And even today, I am still learning and practicing.

The best pictures are in this post. There were quite a few blurred pictures you did not see.

Under each photo is the exposure time used along with the f-stop. To eliminate the blur from the dove's movement I decreased the exposure time to 1/50 of a second. My camera's movie speed is 30 frames per second. Sometimes I will take pictures at 1/30 of a second exposure time to see how the movie still frames will look.

Back in the days when I started doing photography, it was all film. I usually had to wait 3 to 5 days for the film to be developed to know how they turned out.

Practicing different techniques with a digital camera is much more rewarding and allows you to make corrections quickly.

You too will produce great photos. Just keep practicing, learning, and experimenting.

Have a great week!
Steem on,
Mike

Thanks for your comment ,It gives me a lot of encouragement to keep practicing. Have an excellent week you too! :D

Amazing pictures, you are an incredible photographer.
I'm only a photographer beginner, Though always it is good to see other photographers to learn of them.
I amo excited to see your's next photos

Thank you! Your kind words are greatly appreciated.

I am still learning when it comes to photography.

The best advice I can give is to keep practicing.

Have a great week!

Mike

@etcmike GREAT WORK ! I also do blogs on mobile photography...plz check my photos and leave a comment how to make better clicks!

I upvoted a few of your blog posts! You are doing well.

You are doing mobile photography. And I am doing photography with a digital camera. It is a little different but the same principles apply.

One thing both methods have in common is lighting. Lighting can add some dramatic effects to one's photography.

You are well on your way.... keep practicing and experimenting.

Have a great week!

The feather of the bird looks so smooth. But I think they generally fly around in groups. The color of this dove and the size is more like Indian pegion.

What makes it unique us the collar colour. That is very unique and if I am not wrong then all the birds of this species has its own unique collar strip. It makes them stand different among others. It's like we human have our names and they have their unique collar.

You were lucky to see it and be able to take pictures of it. I try sometimes to take pictures of any random bird I see around my house and it's so hard. Lovely pics!

The first problem with taking pictures of birds is not scaring them. The next problem is snapping the photo when the bird is not moving.

I scrap many blurred pictures of birds to find just the right photos.

Have a great week!

Hi Mike. This is called having and using the feline instinct, to hunt a good image of a good pigeon. Congratulations and do not let fly a single opportunity. Those moments I imagine that they are full of adrenaline and that they are worth the efforts. A hug

Beautyful bird & photography is also so beautiful my friend..😊

i want to pet birds i think they would be soft.

you think so? they actually have invisible spikes

why you crush my dreams!

@etcmike, Yes, this bird is beautiful to watch, in first glance the body colour of this bird is reflecting as plane but if we carefully watch then it's reflecting as it's holding effective artwork.

And sometimes we can see some birds visit us, and their actions really gives that natural and amazing essence, these creatures reflects more beautiful when they produce music.

And these pictures and video is telling that this creature had some playful time at your place and it having nice Rotation sessions.

And i hope that you've really enjoyed this session, and i strongly believe that when we can understand the natural creature aspects then it can help us to become more wise. 🙂

Nice ...this is beautiful photography.

What an amazing photographs sir.Thank you

Wowww so beautiful bird😊

Wow very wonderful dove photography. I like it your great full post. thanks for sharing your animals post.

Awww its so cute and beautiful i lovee birds :) your photography amazing 😊

Nice pics as usual @etcmike, I guess you enjoy taking pics of nature and sunrises, you are so lucky. I really miss walking around parks and forest taking photos too. I will soon. Have a nice day :)

A long time ago, I came to realize the phrase "stop and smell the roses". Even in the most developed city nature is all around you. All you have to do is look up to the sky to see wonder in the clouds.

In your travels, always take time to look for wonder, it is all around you!
When you take the time to look, you will surely find wonder.

Have a great week!
Steem on,
Mike

I really enjoyed looking at the beautiful photos, and reading your thoughtful answers to the comments. Thank you for such inspiring posts!

It is very nice photograph of the pigeon amazing&unique lovely photo u have taken really excellent work on this i inspire on this photo had a great work its really enjoy when i seeing amazing birds pictures. An exception & the white domestic pigeon the symbol known as the "dove of peace".

They are very nice birds, the pigeons are animals that adapted very well to life in cities, they are beautiful

You can have some of our pigeons if you want. We've got about 5 billion spare going in London

No thank you, we have enough pigeons around here. Even though I am somewhat out in the country, I have 5 pigeons that regularly visit my bird feeders. Five pigeons is quite enough for me.

Have a great weekend!
