Eurasian Collared-Doves -- 26 January 2020 (Original Photos)

in photography •  5 years ago

Earlier this week I noticed some new birds in my feeder area. I rarely see these birds around. I think they are just passing through the area.

Photographs taken on 26 January 2020.

I have never seen one of these at my feeder, although the map shows that I am exactly on the line of their range in extreme South Central Wisconsin. Maybe I will see one someday! Great photos and thanks for posting to #featheredfriends! !Tip

Eurasian Collared-Doves are not a native species to North America. I do not see them all the time. I typically see them once a year or so.

The birds are more skittish than Mourning Doves. I was surprised that I saw one during the weekend for my bird count.

Steem on,
Mike

They seem to be survivors, don't they? I will keep better watch for them. I probably just assume that all my visitors are Mourning Doves.

You have certainly some had some winter weather, seeing all that snow!

Wonderful photographs of the Eurasian collared doves. They look so content and relaxed.

Hola @etcmike si posiblemente estén migrando a otras tierras más cálidas, son hermosas.

Hello @etcmike if you are possibly migrating to other warmer lands, they are beautiful.

They haven't left for warmer weather yet. And the temperatures this weekend are supposed to get well above freezing.

I saw the same group of three Eurasian Collared-Doves in the feeder area today. If the doves stick around for the weekend, they will make it into my bird counts.

Have a great day!
Steem on,
Mike

Apparently it's a family, I imagine the pigeon is the biggest.

Al parecer es una familia, imagino el pichón es el más grande.

Yes, the pigeon is much larger than any of the doves I see.

Have a great day!
Steem on,
Mike
