I woke up this morning to see thick clouds on the horizon. It seemed that the clouds were going to hide the rising sun.
As I waited to see what would happen a break between the clouds glowed as if it was fire.

Blue sky above and dark clouds on the horizon, but in the clouds was glowing, growing amber of light.
It was as though the sun was burning through the clouds.

You read my mind. When I first saw "the fire in the clouds" it reminded me of lava flowing down a mountain. I have never seen lava in person, but would love to do so. During one of my future trips to Hawaii, I would like to see the active volcano on the Big Island.
As I was watching the clouds, it did remind me of mountains in the distance. But the plains here are so flat, small hills only.
This morning my cat woke me up a little earlier than normal. When I peered out the back window the pre-dawn sky was magnificent. I can't wait to share the photos.
I am working on putting together a post on the bird counts I took two weeks ago. There will be a good number of pictures in that post.
