The state of Nebraska is known for its prairie lands, not for its forests. There are trees in Nebraska but true forests are rare. So where does a person in eastern Nebraska go to see a forest of fall colors.

Fontenelle Forest

Fontenelle Forest is where people in eastern central Nebraska go to view a forest of fall colors.

There are many trails to hike. On this day I stayed on the Riverview Boardwalk trail (see enlarged view above) even though the boardwalk was still partially covered in snow and ice.

The Riverview Boardwalk trail is a 1 mile hike through a small portion of the forest.

@etcmike, In my opinion specifically visiting to forest to explore the Fall is great aspect in itself because, most of the people when see the natural aspect and forest essence everyday may be they lose interest but when we lack the natural beauty and we have to visit forest to view the natural beauty particularly then we can understand the true value of nature and it's natural beauty which holds the healing essence.
