There were clouds on the horizon around the time of the moon rise tonight. I missed that part, but towards mid-night on the 31 March 2018 the clouds parted enough to snap a few photos.

The amount of dust or smoke in the upper atmosphere affects the color of the moon. When the wind blows in the smoke from forest or grass fires, the moon takes on a reddish tint (as does the sun).
