The Orange-tip! My favorite butterfly!

in photography •  6 years ago

Hi steemians!

The Orange-tip (Anthocharis cardamines) is a spring butterfly. I photographed this one in May on a photo trip in Sweden with a friend. This one just hatched I believe. It was really young and small and not afraid of us at all. Normally you can't photograph butterflies so close up in the middle of the day. They will fly away as soon as you get close. However, this one sat still and enjoyed the sun. We spend like an hour or so photographing it.

I love the way the orange tip looks. It reminds me of a road or world map of some kind. In this picture you can't see the orange tip because the wings are closed.

Here is a close up.

Isn't it amazing how close you can get with a camera. That is why I love macro photography so much. You can photograph things you normally would never see in daily life. This is my favorite butterfly of all the ones I have photographed so far. Simply beautiful!

Keep on creating!

Johannes R.

The butterfly and the flower match perfectly!

Indeed they do! Nature is beautiful! :-)

Great macro shot you have here @evergreen365.
Can you share information about the lens used and the camera with the exif information. Thanks

Thank you! My old Canon 40D, Canon 100mm 2.8, ISO 200 1/250, F 9.0

Thanks.

Danke @faltermann!

Wow! Such incredible detail. Fantastic shots! I'd love to get into macro photography soon. It's so fascinating. What setup are you using?

Hi! Thank you! I used my old Canon 7D and the 100mm 2.8 lens.

It's bloody spectacular. Well done my friend!

Super photos !

Thank you! :-)

I agree, macro is wonderful in that way. There is so much beauty that is often overlooked in this great big world. Macro shines a light on that beauty. Which is exactly like you did here. Well done. I've never seen such a patter and color on a butterfly, truly a child of the earth.

Thank you! :-)
