Shooting Man Candy

You all know I either shoot myself, or stalk other people on the street, I very very rarely purposely take a portrait of someone. Now that I'm studying photography, I really need to get over my shyness and start shooting people, different kinds of people, in all kinds of scenarios.

A friend of mine asked a while back if I could take pictures of him , and I said sure, but we didn't set up any dates. Yesterday I finally pulled the trigger and messaged him if he is free for a shoot today, and he was. I was so nervous because I find photography to be a very intimate affair, my standards are high, and I shoot with available light. Luckily I knew his apartment gets a lot of daylight so in that regard, I knew I'd be set. We talked a bit about ideas and what mood we'd go for, and our interests aligned really well and I got to stay true to my style. Not like I could even do anything different...

It was a snow day so the light was super soft and even all throughout the day, which was pretty nice for this kind of shoot. I even climbed outside the balcony at some point so I could capture snowfall in the shot.

We shot for a couple of hours, trying a few different things and I'm really happy with the results, and so was my model. I finished all of 13 pictures for him but I'm just gonna share a few shots here, let me know what you think! The second picture is my personal favourite and it's actually one of the first shots I took of him! Eye contact is not easy for Finnish people so I'm pretty darn proud of this shot and the model chose it as his favourite too. I'd say I did my job well then.

The first sentence of this post is very worrying: "You all know I either shoot myself, [---]". I think of it as a bit of a problem, ha.

Otherwise, love the pictures! :)

It’s much easier to shoot myself than it is to photograph 😝 Thanks!

Wicked cool. I never lost faith; we have a lot to look forward from you. This is no different!

Glad you didn’t loose faith, I did for like ten times this past week 😂😅

You and that camera of yours are going places baby!!!

Haha not too far yet, just next door 🤣😝

Great photo shoot. The guy really looked the part in a genuine way !

That I will take some credit for as I dictated what he’d wear for there pictures 😄

Great shots Eve!

This must be my favorite, as well as the first shot. Pretty business-man like!

How did you take this shot?

Thanks Ruben! We actually planned to do another shoot closer to summer where he would wear a suit and be all mob boss/business man like :D

I climbed over the balcony railing to a part of a roof that is not really meant to be hanged out in :D Well worth it I think!

Haha, You rebel! You find the most coolest angles at places where you normally aren't allowed to be hanging out in. He already looks like a bossman, so I'm looking forward seeing what you pull off in the "acual costume"!

I wish I lived in Finland so you could photograph me!!

I would happily photograph you! I think your look could work well for something pretty high fashion and moody.

Yess always moody !

“grumpy chic”

Grumpy chic is the new heroin chic! :D
