A few years ago I spent a summer in Germany volunteering on an organic farm, and this farm happened to be located just outside of the beautiful town of Burghausen. It was a short bikeride into town where I would often go to get supplies or just to take a spin through the beautiful old town. This town has a castle that sits up on a ridge looking over the river below, and just happens to be the longest in the world. You can walk or ride through it as it is open to the public. They even host a massive renaissance festival every year!
This castle in eastern Bavaria will always stick in my memories. Not only is this town beautiful but they also have a great weekly offering of music in the town square in summer time. I would absolutely recommend traveling there if you get the chance!
