Bleeding hearts

in photography •  5 years ago

One of the flowers my mum is growing in her garden. Since I remember she always had few bushes tucked in different corners. Recently I also saw she has a fully white version... the name desn't really fit to that one. But for the red one it is perfect.

The quite long stem produce multiple, red flowers in a heart shape. Thus the name of course.
The bush itself can grow quite big, but if you have some space in a garden with dappled sun, it will love it there! It is quite decorative plant.
And a great for cut flower bouquets.

I was lucky to see them just starting to bloom when I had my hands on the lovely Mr. Helios.

Mr H. did a good job here! #1 and #3 are my fave.

Nice to foucs on the little things in life . Gives us some perspective .

The little things in life are my specialty :)

What a coincidence but my wife has one of those in her garden as well. I took a picture but it is not the same quality as yours but nevertheless here it is.

I think yours is Begonia. The leaves look like that.
Or something I dunno...
The whole bush looks like this:

Here's a closer shot of the plant. My wife says it is Bleeding Heart but probably of a different variety. But the leaves do look like a begonia plant but the flowers are much smaller and different shaped as begonia.

Definitely a Begonia :) There are different types. Some have nice, big flowers that look almost like roses. Some have like yours.
They have beautiful leaves.

I like the one at the back too. Is that Bougainvillea?

Yes you are correct. My wife is going to be heartbroken about this :(

The plant shop where she bought this a long time ago told her it was Bleeding Hearts. But the dead giveaway are the leaves which are that of Begonias.

Yes that is a bougainvillea at the background. Here's a closer look.

Begonias are also very pretty plants and can grow quite big!

That is lovely! I see them growing around here, but I dont have space to have one.
