"Have you ever tried to manage a photoshoot with studio lights under the rain... ? "

When Yoshi asked me if I could help her with a photoshoot for her first lookbook, I said YES !

At that time, she was not my wife yet. We actually had just met. As she is a fashion designer, as a trade, I asked her to design a costume for myself :

The outfit I traded for, is called "Desert Eagle, ps : I did not drink the entire bottle by myself...".

Luckily one of the model had access to a rooftop in Manhattan. It was a bit hard to convince the building manager, but finally she authorized us to set up our studio up there.

The shooting

At the beginning, everything was normal, it was cloudy and we were waiting the right time to start. I love clouds, they bring perspective to images and when you can combine them with a sunset or sunrise you can get to amazing results. At some point it begun to rain but it stayed light, I did not even bother stop shooting. And on top of that the light was becoming more and more interesting.

But when the rain became harder and that the wind intervened in the action the photoshoot took another direction :) We had to run inside with all the lights deployed, then go back out, to continue, then back in... It was like if the elements were mocking us...
We ended up with the shot we wanted and it was finally not a bad experience. :)

Nikon 28-80mm f5,6 and 14-24mm f2.8

Different shutter and ISO settings but mostly slow speed, you can nail it on some shots.

2 softboxes and Elinchrom Ranger Quadra.
