Scenic Ceilings - The Louvre, Paris

Time for another scenic ceiling! This one I saw in the Louvre in Paris.

Its not the complete ceiling, its just one corner of it. Look at the intricate detail that was clearly hand made by some poor artisan under the scrutinising eye of some snooty french monarch. There isn't a single square centimeter that isn't covered in intricate detail. Amazing. And look at the sculpture of the woman. The pose is like she is bored, listening to the boasting of deeds by some guy trying to impress her.

Thanks for Looking.

I know that the Detailing is Crazy intricate but I really wanted to see this in Person. I am a sucker for Buildings with Good Architectural work. I just love them.

I highly recommend it! Paris is full of architectural beauty :) I'm a sucker for that kind of thing too and Paris is just perfect for it :)

And it's like that all the time, the most talented people are usually are the poorest :) But they are remembered by their work through ages and even today we wonder how good they were. If that matters :

Yeah so true, especially with art. The only rich artists I know are the ones that are also really good at sales and/or self promotion. :)

And most of them have agents to do it for them or ties that run deep in a family :)

Yeah that too. Sometimes all you need is a wealthy fan that decides to champion our work to their wealthy friends ;)

Wow, and this is only the ceiling. The details are amazing.

Crazy right? But it makes sense in context. The Louvre used to be a palace before it became a museum. One of the wings of the Louvre was Napoleon's home, though it still is but more as an exhibit to show how it used to look.

Nice historical facts. :-) You are right, then it makes sense to have this impressive rooms.
