View of Leh City from Khardung-La

The city of 'Leh' —capital of the erstwhile Kingdom of Ladakh as seen from an altitude of 16500 ft while enroute to Khardung-La (one of the highest motorable mountain pass in the world).

It was a sunny day but at this altitude you can't stay warm without a jacket. The sun is blinding without your sunglasses but the views around you are stunning! The snow capped mountain range you see in this picture is the famous 'Stok Kangri' range of Himalayan mountains. It's quite popular amongst trekkers visiting Leh.

In my next post I'll show you the location for shooting this picture—should you ever decide to visit this place yourselves!

A truly breathtaking sight. Only matched in person I bet

Indeed! The ride to the summit is also quite the experience!

Beautiful view.

It truly is! Although a photograph doesn't do justice to this place!

Beautiful!

glad you like it! :)

How stunning ! I really missed those kind of posts from you

I'll be posting more of these henceforth! :D

Worth the upvote just because you were at 16.5k... I'd lose my shit. I'm afraid of heights and my balance is garbage... I can only hike the tamest of paths. I love the mountains, but they are a challenge for me.

Haha! Thanks! Well I don't hike/trek a lot myself but only occasionally. I prefer to ride/drive up them as they offer some challenges when there are no paved roads. I've been on some dangerous and steep climbs up some of these mountains in the Himalaya.

This mountains is very cool!

They are indeed!

Photo conveys all the freshness of those mountains )
