I've kinda been wanting one of these cameras for about six or seven years.

My first mostly professional camera was a Nikon SLR that lasted me almost twenty years.

The SLR platform made a lot more sense to me from the beginning.

First of all, I couldn't afford a rangefinder.

I still can't afford a lot of rangefinders.

It always made sense to be looking through the actual lens that's taking the photo.

There tend to be more lens options with SLRs.

The first rangefinder that I bought was a cheap, old Soviet thing that was accurate with focusing while utterly failing at parallax correction.

Also, for the last several years, I've mostly shot portraits. I've never been much for street or documentary photography. I like to design everything as best I can.

Still, as soon as I got my Yashica, which was my first kinda-sorta-good rangefinder, I kinda fell in love with the platform.

There will always be limitations in terms of close focus. You're never going to see the true depth of field of the image through the viewfinder.

The close focus can be a bitch at times.

Still, the rangefinder tech, when done right, makes everything that's really important to the final image (particularly focus) faster, and less of a guessing game.

The leaf shutters make the vibration of the cameras less of a liability.

The good rangefinders are intuitive as all holy heck to use.

I'm gonna keep using both platforms -- among others. Still, I've gotta say that I've fallen in love with the rangefinder platform over the last few years.
