Saturday Before the Storm (photos)

Howdy!

It's Saturday and the homework and unread emails are piling up, but who can resist going out on a day like this? The sun came out, the birds were chirping, and the looming snow storm means this could be the last chance to get out for awhile.

The train whistle sounded several times, but it was starting to get dark. Perched as I was against a dead tree, complete with mushrooms and woodpecker holes, I thought it was probably best I head back. The vibration from the train might have been enough to finish it off, sending the tree and I both to the ground! Plus, I didn't want the conductor to think I was "up to something..."

... like that time I was threatened with an FBI "interview" for taking photos of a distant oil refinery.

This leaf appears to have held on, with hopes of making it back around to summer. Now, it appears to be frozen in a state of decay.

Hope the storm isn't too bad. I've been putting off schoolwork myself to enjoy the nice weather before it gets super cold again. I love trains in snow.Caught this one a few days ago. When cars can't pass on icy roads, you'll still see trains chugging along. Shame people can get in trouble for taking pictures for fun. People are so untrusting these days!

Thanks, and nice shot!

I'm hoping to get a good photo of the train in the spot I was, but I'll have to find a better perch. I'll probably also have to find someplace that doesn't look as "suspicious" as a guy with a camera hanging onto a dead tree over the tracks tends to look!

The leaf is so scared of winter... I felt cold just looking at that photo. Check my post, made also a few nature photographs. Good luck :)

Thanks!

Really nice pics!! I think it is so interesting to see that the other part of the world up there is having snow and we're just having sunny days mostly (it's raining right now though which is kind of nice). :) I don't know that I could handle the snow since I'm so used to the warmth 24/7 here, but it sure does look nice!
