The Big Nickel (Original Photography)

in photography •  8 years ago

This 30 ft. tall nickel 5 cent coin dominates the photograph and skyline.  I really like how it turned out with the bright sun tucked behind the clouds.  These are original photos taken by me personally.  They were taken on my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone while out and about enjoying life.

This monument is located in Sudbury, Canada which is home to the Sudbury Basin, the site of the reported 2nd largest known impact crater on Earth.  The region is home to some of the richest deposits of nickel and copper in the world.  In the 20th century, Sudbury was essentially the worlds supplier of nickel.  Nickel is a key component in so many products commonly used such as stainless steel, nickel & chrome plating and rechargeable batteries (eg. NiMH).

My hometown!!!

It's nice to hear. There is much beauty in this part of the country.

The quality of these S2 photos are simply amazing!

Thank you. I find I can get really high quality pics with my cell providing I am outdoors and the daylight is just right.

Yes, these photos prove that, following you now!
