Lines and Shades [Architectural photography at Harbourfront Singapore]

in photography •  6 years ago

Recently, I've been practicing in creating black & white photos. In this series of photos I put more emphasis to the lines and forms of the subject that I’m shooting.

The subject of my photography is a cluster of buildings that is located at the Harbourfront area, which is also near the Keppel bay.

One thing I noticed about the pictures without colors is that the lines and shades become the prominent asset.

The images were actually shot in a bad lighting condition, it lacks contrast mainly because it was shot in mid afternoon and the building don’t have much colors to begin with.

What I realize is that when it was turned to black and white, the poor lighting can be resolved by fine tuning the image contrast without creating weird color effects on the image.

Without the colors, the picture is much easier to edit (Adobe Lightroom) since I only need to think about the lighting and the shading in it.

I hope you enjoyed viewing this set of images.

Cheers!

Thanks! Im glad that you like the last one :)

Great photos. I like your architecture pictures.
As you write, black&white photos are a great thing when we do not have the right light.
Thanks to this, I saved a lot of pictures that were unsuitable for color in color.
Regards.

Looking forward to that my friend, if we get more contributions of black & white images. We will feature the best ones :)

I find architecture and portrait photos in black and white most beautiful. I also find that the contours and the message of the picture become much clearer. Your photos are great and show that wonderful.

You're right, if landscape is best when colored, architecture fit well in black and white image. It gives a different impression to the view :) Thanks for your insight, appreciate it :)

As always..cool shot bro! :)

I like the photos taken from different perspectives. It gives a good impression of the site:)
