An old Railway tunnel in Lengerich, Westfalia, Germany.
The railway line Wanne-Eickel-Hamburg near Lengerich runs through the 581 m long Lengericher Tunnel.
The tunnel is a special feature in several aspects: On the one hand, the Lengericher Tunnel is the most northern railway tunnel in Germany, which runs below a mountain range. On the other hand, one of its two tunnel tubes represents an investment ruin.
The Second World War prevented the four-track extension of the railway line. The first tunnel tube of the Lengericher Tunnel, which is a listed monument, still exists today.
Wow! This is a fantastic location!
