This is a metal sculpture inside the famous Macaraeg-Macapagal Ancestral House in Buruun, Iligan City, Philippines. It is believed that the family of the two former Philippine Presidents, the father and the daughter, President Diosdado Macapagal (1910-1997) and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (1947-present), had spent most of their time living in the city. Most people often referred them as Iliganons. The sculpture attempts to capture the good old days of the Macaraeg-Macapagal family in Iligan.
This sculpture reminds me of how vulnerable this influential political family is and at their core is just the same as any normal Filipino family. It's just that they were raised and born having an ancestors that managed to accumulate enough resources to be part of the country's political clans.
