Third time's a charm?

In december it is time for winter to show up on our doorsteps. Winters aren’t what they used to be, but they are cold anyway. That is why we decided that in december 2017 we’ll run away in warm climate. That means leaving winter behind and go where summer just started. But where to go so out wallets wouldn’t be completely dry when we get back, but have fun anyway?
After considering a few options, we decided we could go to Bali. A lot of people recommended it. There is a lot to see and neighboring islands are paradise for it self. Excellent. Plane tickets are booked and paid, now we just have to find where we will spend our nights while there. But two days later ...
Bali is island of volcanic origin that lies more or less where tectonic plates of Australia and Indonesia collide. Not to blow this out of the propulsion, but grounds like to shake there. But we never heard anyone telling about Bali volcano that likes to change trip plans for visitors. But that is just what happened to us. Volcano decided that 50 years of sleep is enough. Mount Agung started to send thick plumes of smoke and volcanic ash into the air.

Me and my wife like adventures and it would be exciting to see this wonder of nature. But what to do with our two little kids? But because of so much ashes that is in the air and all over the island, we didn’t want to risk it so we decided to cancel the trip and to find the new similar destination. First we had to get our money back for plane tickets. Luckily, depends on the viewpoint, airline company cancelled all flights to Bali so we got our money back.
Again, we started to look for our new destination. We still wanted to go someplace warm. Under the palm trees. Beautiful sand beaches. Somewhere where children could play in water and have fun. After some thought, we settled for Seychelles. Plane tickets are not expensive. Islands are closer than Bali, which means less flight (kids are very young). Soon plane seats had our names written all over them. Now we seriously started to pack our bags. Evening before flight, we only neede to put last things in the suitcases. I received mail from company where we booked our flights. It said that because of technical difficulties our flight was cancelled and they will refund our money as soon as possible.
OK, what is going on? Will we have to stay at home? We took few days to think it through. We again started to search new destinations for our slippery vacation. Accommodations and flights were getting filled up very fast. Where could we go? We undeniably had to go somewhere and it would be Teneriffe. Arrangement was paid quickly. Suitcases where already packed from our last try. Flight was from Munich, so some driving was necessary to get there. We decided to go a day early and spend the night in Munich, so we would not be tired from driving. We stopped in Salzburg to quench thirst of our car and to have a lunch. My phone ranged. Unknown number. Voice on the other side of the line introduced him self and told us the bad news.

Just then Lufthansa and Niki Airlines were in talk of a takeover. The deal did not go through. Niki Airlines become insolvent and the flights were cancelled and planes grounded. We looked at each other, shrugged with our shoulders and decided to at least go to Munich for a few days. Apparently we will not fly anywhere, but we could at least see something.

We stayed in Munich for 5 days and it was nice. Colder than we wanted our vacation to be, but nice.


We went to see The Deutsches Museum.

Shildren loved riding with subway.


And they insisted to see the zoo.
Since we had with us only clothes for warm climate, we did not change our clothes much. Washing machine was very happy that we didn’t overload it with dirty clothes when we got back home.
But we still wanted to fly somewhere exotic.
