4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars - FOOD PHOTO SHOOT

in photography •  7 years ago

Hey my favorite peeps, I hope you’re off to a fabulous first Friday of February! (Haha, well that’s quite a tongue-twister)

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (2).jpg

Since the last time I mentioned the weather here it still has yet to snow more than flurries and the grass is almost completely visible everywhere. For it to be so early in the year, that’s pretty surprising. Just wait, I’ll probably be getting buried in a freak snowstorm first week of April.

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (3).jpg

For some reason my inspiration has been much more on the savory side recently. I’m guessing it has to do with the fact that January is such a great month for healthier recipes. Good news though, now I’m getting back my overly sweet ideas for future recipes. I’m guessing that the reason for that is because Valentine’s Day and Springtime on the horizon always have me wanting to create things with chocolate and lots of berries!

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (4).jpg

Oh, and I’ve been super into fast and easy these past few weeks. I already mentioned having a houseful of people so you can imagine, there’s more to do and less time. (# never- ending-dishes!) Anyway, these bars fit the criteria I was going for of being EASY.

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (5).jpg

They make a perfect lunchbox treat or afternoon snack and the kids can even help make them. Like the title says, there are only 4 ingredients that you need to make them. If you’re like me and you always like the extras you can add a dash of vanilla and a pinch of salt, but that’s not entirely necessary, just optional.

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (6).jpg

I tried them first as a no-bake recipe and found that they were pretty good, but the cereal seemed to get a bit soggy and the the flavor you get when you bake it all together is so good. They were also a bit too crumbly for the kiddos, so these do need to be baked, but not for long and trust me it’s worth it.

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (7).jpg

Actually, if you’re just a huge fan of peanut butter, like I am, then you might even enjoy these as a 3 ingredient recipe without the chocolate. I’ll admit, skipping the chocolate is not something I’d likely do because, eh hem, I’m a chocoholic! But nonetheless, you could theoretically try them that way and I’m sure they’d still be yum!

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (8).jpg

So if you’ve got a few minutes and want to try these, go for it. Friday just sort of needs something quick and easy like this, don’t you agree?

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars (10).jpg

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Cereal Bars

Ingredients

4 cups unsweetened O-shaped cereal (TJ's or Cheerios work well)
1 cup + 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1 cup + 1 tablespoon peanut butter
150g (about 1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips + 1 tablespoon peanut butter
Optional:
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180C) and line a 9x11 inch (or 8x8) baking pan with parchment or wax paper.
Stir together the peanut butter, maple, salt, and vanilla in a medium bowl. Add in the cereal and stir to coat evenly. Scrape the mixture into prepared pan and press down with a flat spatula or the bottom of a cup to flatten. Bake for 10 -12 minutes until browned and bubbling.
Remove the pan from oven and cool for about 15 minutes until no longer hot to the touch. Cover pan with plastic and place in the freezer to chill for at least 30 minutes.
In a double-boiler, melt the chocolate chips over low heat and stir until melted and smooth. Add 1 tablespoon peanut butter and stir well. Scrape the chocolate on top of the bars and use a rubber spatula to smooth over the top. Place pan back in freezer for a few minutes to harden chocolate.
Once set, remove bars from pan and use a sharp knife to cut into bars.

thanks so much @maryahoc

You are welcome gringalicious

I love the peanut butter and adore the chocolate, but for some reason, I can't eat them together - it just doesn't taste right to me.
So, it's just the PB version for me and I'll have the chocolate for dessert. :)

that's too bad, pb and choco is amazing, but that's why we have such variety in the food world. Chcoc for dessert, great idea @docsmith

Se ve super delicioso,me gustaria hacerlo, pero aquí en Venezuela no se consiguen algunos de esos ingredientes.
It looks super delicious, I'd like to do it, but here in Venezuela you do not get some of those ingredients.

I am sure you could come up with some replacements, thanks for commenting @dalypolo

Many billboards and magazine ads have resorted to showing isolated body parts rather than full-body portraits of models using or wearing products. This style of photography, known in the industry as abstract representation, allows the viewer to see himself in the advertisement, rather than the model. Douglas Rushkoff

Thank you Dear for such a nice photography!

Peanut butter made foods in particular are so healthy and have a lot of benefits. These pictures are lovely and look yummy. This versatile spread is surprisingly good for your health. The high protein and healthy oils help with weight loss, diabetes and even Alzheimer’s disease.

No food is perfect, though. so there are some cautions with peanuts. Hopefully, I am not part of the 1 percent of the population that is highly allergic to peanuts 😋
Thank you dear. Keep posting.

sorry to hear about that allergy, that's a bummer. Thanks for comment @wa2qr

You are most welcome. Cheers

I don´t know what I like more: the recipe or your photographs of the dish. Thank you! Enjoy your time! I´ll follow you right away. Rolf from the Czech republic

I really want to visit Prague. Maybe I can bring you some @rofilm

Great idea! I´d give you a guided tour through the city to places, where "normal" tourists (those being guided by agencies) don´t get (there is i.e. an ancient Prague under the modern Prague. Or there are certain "in"-clubs, where the diverse musical "scenes and circles" meet. Or coffeehouses where writers go, or my friends from the national theatre. Or pubs where people talk about paintings (on canvas as well as on walls) and and and. Enjoy your life! Rolf from the Czech republic

They look so delicious!
Thanks for sharing!
