2018-02-07: After the Ice Storm

Thoughts

Having lived in Tokyo and Hawaii my entire adult life, I had never experienced an ice storm. It left some interesting artifacts across the landscape, and I couldn't help but snap a few pictures while I was walking my dogs...

A close-up of a bush covered with mini-icicles:

The morning sun dancing through a forest of ice crystals:

My trash can frozen shut:

Near the end of my walk, I nearly slipped on a patch of black ice on the sidewalk while crossing a bridge, and then noticed this sign when I looked back:

They weren't kidding, and I'll be a bit more careful next time I wander into a frozen wonderland!

Bonus Thoughts

I could hear my dogs muttering under their breath every time I stopped to take a picture. They couldn't wait to get back home for more important endeavors...

From the looks of it I'll need to get her tested for sleep apnea soon :)

What are the Stats you write? I don't quite understand

Thanks for asking, I wrote a bit about the stats here. Let me know if there's anything you're still curious about!

That's great. So mostly your workout includes walking your dog. Haha. I wish everyone could quantify their progress like you do. What do you mean by core?

I went into a bit more detail on Cash/Core/Explore in this post. . . basically Core is the "classic" asset classes (stocks/bonds/real estate) that should make up the majority of a diversified investment portfolio, as opposed to the riskier plays like cryptocurrencies and angel investments in the Explore bucket.

Really good Snaps, friend..! 🌟🌞

I must admire your photography skills..! being a fan, really...!🙌

Thanks! Every photo on all of my posts was taken with an iPhone 7. . . it's the only camera I have, nothing fancy, I just try to find good subject matter and frame/crop it.

Nice....!
u got a good hand of phtography, friend..!
best wishes...! 🤗

P.S : being a fan of ur work..! Happy follower..!

It really must be an experience to remember! These pictures are fabulous, by the way. Especially love the first two, the way the ice crystals cling onto the leaves.

Yes, it was quite a sight! The pictures don't really do it justice, seeing an entire sprawling forest of ice crystals from a distance was amazing, but I wasn't able to capture it with the camera. More practice!

Snow during winters are a luxury only some have. I'm glad you do have that haha. It looks good in pictures but people have told me it can be a pain in the wrong place sometimes to clear it up.

It's a luxury I could easily forego ;) Here are the climate stats for Honolulu (where I grew up):

I'm fascinated by the novelty of the ice here, but I'd rather have my year-round tropical warmth back!

I live in Mumbai, India. You know where to come for your "all year round tropical warmth" haha

amizing 😧

wow..nice photography dear thanks for sharing...

Dogs are naturally submissive to any creature with a higher pack status.

That is a very confusing situation, it is seen from your dog who does not like cold weather ... I am very sorry for him.
