Hinton's Beaver Boardwalk is Sooooo a Canadian gem

Back in the fall of 2011 we were on our way to Jasper National Park and we had some time so we went to the visitors centre in Hinton and found out about the Beaver Boardwalk.

The citizens of Hinton have created a hidden gem. They went to great effort to build and maintain a unique park. I have a hard time to imagine building a board walk within a swamp created by a beaver damn and muskeg but they did a great job and well worth the effort to spend an hour or two for a stroll.

Here we are on an elevated lookout. You can see the beaver lodge and in the background you can see the last row of houses bordering the Boardwalk.

The area is not just a boardwalk but a series of trails that are quite extensive where I found these wild flowers.

I was fascinated by the amount and color of the grasses that blanked the lake.

Here is a map of Hinton which is about 3 hours west of Edmonton.
