♢ DARKEST HOUR - VILNIUS, LITHUANIA ♢

in photography •  7 years ago

The first thing that struck me about Vilnius was how the thick snow seemed to hide a layer of
self-destruction that covered every boulevard in town. Remnants of a past torn by domination and war, lingering in the foggy air. Lightness, on a good day, only to be found in the consumption of alcoholic beverages and there was plenty of that going round.
I had never been to a place like this.
The streets were painted in this specific shade of melancholia that I have never seen back since.

Vilnius reminded me of a beautifully sad poem, whispered in a candle lit bar that smelled of incense and skinned dreams.
