In the last few years, I have been following quite a nomadic lifestyle. Moving from the mountains of central Europe to the shores of a Caribbean island. Back to Europe and to Thailand, back to Europe and now have my heart set on the only city to ever appeal to me - Berlin.
Over the next few posts, I'm going share photos taken by me that really managed to move me, or that I hold special. Either based on the image itself of the location. I've long abandoned my photography aspirations but I aim to be able to rekindle that. Each photo is connected to a story and hopefully I create a photo-journal to keep my memories alive.
This is one of my favourite, its the island of Koh Phangan taken from the neighbouring island of Koh Samui. It was taken on 28 January 2017, which also happened to be Chinese New Year. For a few weeks before that, the islands were struck by a serious of flash floods, storms and awful weather. It was inspiring to see a clear day after weeks of rain and reminded me that we our existence is in constant cycles of change over which we have no control. We deal with what nature hands to us and try to make the best out of it. A phrase I really like, but claim no credit for - "Its always darkest just before dawn". Similar analogies are made about pots of gold at the end of the rainbow or light at the end of the tunnel. This was my light.
