The Mahabalipuram Shore temple was built in 700–728 AD. So it is named because it overlooks the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It is a structural and built with blocks of granites, dating from the 8th century AD. It has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is one of the oldest structural stone temples of South India.
