Hello all!
Very nice White Pelicans show up here every year in Florida's winter months, always love seeing the high fliers.
Sometimes in flocks of a hundred or more, they fly low in the morning generally. When the sun heats the land they circle in the hot air that rises, reaching incredible heights.
I've noted they can be spotted in all months, but many more are here in winter. They come by the thousands and usually stay October through March.

They are considerably larger then the Brown Pelican. It's really noticeable when they are standing side by side. Larger wingspan too, up to 9 feet or more. In the image below you can see how large, if compared to the 3 feet tall Great Egrets among them.
The underside of their wings has black on the side and rear edges, which is less seen when they are folded.
I've noticed they seem to like brackish marsh areas, as well as freshwater. The can be found on sandbars in saltwater areas too.
January 2017:
I hope you've enjoy the views, much more on the way. Stop by whenever you would like to see some nature. I will be posting a lot of it . :) - HD
