I was taking pictures of my amethyst geode for a future post when this lady came gliding down and landed on my flowers. After some research, I have concluded that she is an Ozark Swallowtail butterfly, only seen in the Ozark Mountains in southern Missouri to northern Arkansas.

According to the good old internet, Papilio joanae is seen betwern April and September. Its host plants are primarily meadow parsnip, yellow pimpernel, and golden alexander.

I am really excited to have seen and photographed this butterfly so I could share it with my fellow steemians! I hope you enjoyed!
