Using flash in broad-daylight is always a good idea. It gives your image balance, it gives it poise, and it gives it some flair, just like this pose from the fantastic Bree, who kindly gave her time to stand in front of my camera on a Friday.
You'll note the position of the sun by Bree's shadow. It's behind her, giving her separation from the background. The sky is correctly exposed, but yet, so is Bree's face and body.
This is thanks to two external flashes, situated off-camera to the right, on the ground, as I sat on my butt to get the angle right for Bree's pose.
This shot had minimal post production done on it - which saw me get most of the image right in the camera. It was a real "oh, this is good" moment when I saw the histogram (and exposure) on the back of the camera screen.
Another one with the flash slightly hotter, and a similar pose. Even less post production, as you can probably tell. I am finally getting to learn how to use off camera flash and lighting more effectively - and doing it in daylight is pretty challenging when all you've got is speed lights, and not big studio strobes with two assistants and a generator. :D
For those that aren't interested in off camera flash and how that works, well, there's another sort of flash that we encountered, that was off camera, as we wandered around looking for cool places to shoot pictures.
This Lamborghini was sitting around doing nothing outside a Hotel, with the valets closely scrutinising anyone who approached. We approached, asked to take some photos, and did. That's a pretty big off camera flash.
We did not stick around to meet the owner.

I’m horribly confused by the lighting 😅 but the photos definitely did turn out great. Do you feel like you’ve levelled up getting them pretty much bang on straight from camera? 😄

myself, love getting good results from the camera that need no post-production, except maybe cropping, I like the last shot most.
