Clowning Around: Part 1

in photography •  5 years ago

Kelsey wanted to dress up as a scary clown and terrify people. We chose an Industrial location, outdoors (Port Adelaide) - and set a night time shoot. We were both later than we anticipated, which worked well, as the whole place was completely deserted on a Friday night.

I set my camera to ISO6400, set up a single light to assist with focusing and adding some drama, and off the shoot went. At one point, we had a security patrol come to try and move us on - and Kelsey proceeded to do a creepy dance in front of them.

This shoot was a lot of fun. Night time Photoshoots usually are, as you can be in control of the light a lot more.

This first shot is a four second long exposure. Kelsey was the focal point, leading to a nice, long exposures background bokeh. I love the movement in the baloons, which was intentional. The fact she didn't hold still for the entire four seconds adds an element of creepiness to this image that I enjoy.

The rest of these in this post will be the "creepy" ones... Fair warning...

The first and last one a REALLY cool! Great work! Awesome setting too :D I am just planning to rewatch 'IT' with friends and see chapter II at the cinema ;-)

Thank you. This is sort of what Kelsey inspired this shoot by... :)

I haven't seen the film, but the mood was definitely there.

Will have some more of this shoot over the coming days. Thanks for dropping by. :)

Wow! Beautiful!! Reminds me of Pennywise in IT : Chapter 2 😂

Thank you. I haven't seen the film, but I'm sure Kelsey has!

I guess they'd be creepy if you were scared of clowns XD They do look very cool and dramatic :) Did the creepy dance work on the security? XD

Yes it did.

Awesome pictures! Kelsey is a great model and you a great photographer. The only thing I don't understand is why the security patrol wanted you to leave. Is taking spooky photos a crime?!

Not a crime, just really close to back entrances (on a public road) of many manufacturing and industrial buildings.

Maybe you could take the pics in a cemetery!

We did some zombie stuff not so long ago which worked out well in a cemetary!
