The stunning Rion–Antirion Bridge

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

The seven-year construction project of the Rio-Antirio Bridge ( officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge) started in 1998 and finished in 2004. It is one of the world’s longest cable-stayed bridges.   With a suspended deck of 2,252m, the Rion-Antirion Bridge features four  pylons (where there are usually two) and has a reference span of 560m.  It crosses the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, linking the town of Rio on thePeloponnese peninsula to Antirio on mainland Greece by road. The rbidge is a really fascinating structure that everyone should see at least in their life!
