My first ever Boudoir!

in photography •  6 years ago

Hey guys!!! It's been a long time since I've written a post in English, be here I come, I think it has improved so I guess I won't be making a fool of myself this time 😝

So this new experience I'm sharing with you is my first Boudoir set, a little nerve racking, but rewarding in the end.

It all started with me pushing myself out of my confort zone, partly the reason of why I'm coming back to post in english, not because I had forgotten you guys, my english speaking steemians friends out there, but I really felt that I was not good enough to be writing in a different language than Spanish.

But having this time to reflect I realized that the only way for me to improve is to keep trying, and so I did with Spanish, and apparently I've gotten a lot better at my writing, so hopefully I will accomplish that with English as well. But enough of that, lets go back to my boudoir experience.

So I chose to experiment with this photography genre, because it has alway drawn my attention, ever since I watched a photographer friend of mine do one, he is much more experienced in this than I am, but the way the whole communication and flow of it moved was fascinating, but to be honest I was kind of afraid to screw it up, and that would be the end of my career as a photographer.

So I just analyzed, snapped a few shots from the background and tried to remember as much as I could from that experience, because I knew someday I would get the chance to explore it myself, and here it was.

So usually I have my own ritual for taking my landscape pics, obviously I couldn't do that here, this is a whole different thing, a different world, so it all started a bit awkward, probably to the fact that we, the model and I didn't know each other before this, but I always focus on making any of my shoots something fun and easy going, so music it was, and to my surprise she started to feel more comfortable and so did I, and from that point on the photoshoot became a blast, we are both shy people but we enjoy photography and modeling. And like I read somewhere a few years back, it always starts slow and once the creative mood kicks in BOOM! Amazing things happen.

And talking about amazing things here is the first shot from this set, to give you guys a little more context. The whole shoot was a mix of Coffee, Star Wars, Technology and sensuality, so this is my way to expressing all that through photography.

Photo 1. The Coffee

From that point on it all went pretty smooth, we were having fun and chilling to the sound of music, plus creativity was at it's peak, she became more comfortable to go with full body shots, and so we did, I think her complete and incomplete tattoos were just perfect, even her posture changed as we became more comfortable, who would imagine that you could learn so much about another person during a photoshoot, to me it was surreal, that connection to another human being through photography to me is priceless, always keeping in mind to be professional and respectful.

It made me kind of sad to know that she had had (please english speakers correct me here because I don't know is this is the way to write that past tense hehe) crappy experiences with others supposedly photographers that were all creepy and disrespectful, just because a woman undresses or is with little clothing during a photoshoot doesn't mean she is wanting something else or is she by any means an object. I didn't want to use an offensive adjetive there because I don't use those with woman in any instance, but I hope you guys get the point.

But what I'm trying to say is be respectful, be professional, be kind, be nice, and treat him or her (the model) as they deserve, have a fun time, and just make it an amazing experience for you both of you, so that way you will get referrals and clients hopefully, that would be my piece of advice 😊

So to make the culmination of this set, I threw in the mix a little tech, because I wanted to express or to transmit a composition with sensuality and technology, the warmth of the human being and the cold of the inanimate material technology, united in harmony in just one image, warmth and sensuality of the woman and the coldness of the metallic object in he lap. Inanimate but at the same time giving it that small notch that the photograph needed, so I could consider the set to be complete.

Hehehe thanks mate !!
This might not be considered Boudoir to many, but it just my take on it :)
Appreciate the support! ✌️

Very good for your first boudoir shoot, it is a very delicate genre and it seems you have the right attitude. Good work!

Thanks! I was pretty nervous at first, but after a while it became very chill and natural, take care!

you have nice thought process, i completely agree that one should never stop chasing their dream but also be polite and nice.

We never have to loose the essence of who we are, always be respectful, polite and do good 😀

I like the shots but to be honest when a woman is wearing a lingerie, its almost impossible to feel the warmth or sensuality. And then mixing technology in the mixture. Everything looks cold to be honest

Remember that everything is relative, that is what my eyes saw and what I felt, It's different points of view what make this interesting, you see the photograph and it brings a memory or a feeling to each of us, if you feel is cold it's valid as well 😊 different perspectives, I'm very glad you like them !

good work

Thanks!
