Today is a gray day in my heart, as my youngest son is making his move to college! It is a big milestone, for him and for me. So just like that, 19 years went by! I will be truly an empty-nester, though I have been alone before; this time is different. It has more of a permanent feel to it.
His future to be independent is exciting and he is looking forward to it! Life will be full of surprises for him. He can only grow and be more mature with time. Gaining knowledge and experience are what we all have to go through. It is a new year, new adventure, new possibilities and a new world is awaiting.
We are only about 2-3 hours drive apart! It is doable, and his home is where his heart going to be.

Hello. Change is always daunting... and I am sure having a young leave the nest is always bittersweet. But sometimes as cliched as it may sound, we do need to let go of those we love so that they may find themselves. The image you used in this post is incredibly apt - not only in capturing your mood but also something more magical - your son is branching out. I trust you gave him strong roots?
Peace,
Jono
