Hello Steemians!
As you may have seen, my last few posts have been about The Nostalgia Train in NYC as it runs the entire month of December, every Sunday from 10 in the morning to 5 in the early evening. So, if you are planning to be in NYC in the next two weeks or live nearby, I suggest you try to fit it into your holiday events schedule! You won't regret it! I have provided a schedule and link below.
As it happens, I'm quite obsessed with The Nostalgia Train, which, of course, also accounts for the flurry of posts here on Steemit. For one, it's the holidays and just plain fun. I love the time travel feeling I get whilst riding around in the antique cars steeped in subway history and peopled with passengers dressed up in vintage clothing. I've literally taken thousands of pics (thank goodness for my iPhone 6) and have been really excited to share them with you and hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy taking them.
This week, I'm posting black and white photos on Steemit in a first of a two part series, called Portraits in Nostalgia. They are studies of individuals, a bit more serious in nature, as opposed to the exuberant colors shots I have posted previously that look a lot like old picture postcards. Some of them remind me of screen sirens of yesteryear or literary characters I love, like Anna Karenina, Mrs. Dalloway, Madame Bovary, Nick Carraway, and Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby. And boy it was fun taking the photos as I was imagining myself the photographer for these great ladies and gents evoked in our collective imaginations by great novels many of us have grown up reading. I hope you enjoy this post and comment on which photograph looks like a character you love from a novel you have cherished!
