What makes you loose track of time? For me it can be many things, including a walk through an Island City in the Caribbean breeze.

Upon Arrival one is greeted by a mall of flavors and sounds, then a fleet of minivan taxis driven by locals. Walking a little further, one discovers the streets of Bridgetown.

Life goes on as normal for locals. For me it was a refreshing glimpse into a different world with a Caribbean twist on many of the same comforts, cultures, and professions. Time has no meaning while on Vacation. But I was not on Vacation. I was working for the Second City aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines. I had a day to walk around the town before getting back to the ship and performing shows in the 1,100 seat Auditorium. A matter of hours really, perhaps only enough time for a dinner and a movie. For me it was a brisk walk through the streets to savor the colors and sounds of a place far away, knowing I may or may not ever return.

Years later I can still feel the breeze, smell the local flowers, taste the the local Bar-B-Q, and see the vibrant colors. I can still hear the chatter in the streets and hear flags whipping in the wind. I can remember thinking of my family, wishing I could share the island with them. I can remember loosing track of time and casually making it back to the ship just in time to make it to the top deck and watch the island grow smaller in the horizon.
