The 'Iranian poppy' (Papaver bracteatum) is without question one of the most impressive flowering plants in our garden. If you want to read more about this perennial poppy, which grows up to 1.20 m tall, you can find more information in one of my earlier articles.
However, this plant is not only beautiful, but also much sought-after by bees and bumblebees, which is why I wrote an article on the subject "Poppy and its diligent visitors" today.

Obviously this 'buff-tailed bumblebee' (Bombus terrestris) has caused quite a mess in the bloom when it was seeking for pollen.
This bumblebee species can be recognized by the white end of their abdomen and the two wide yellow stripes. |
Offensichtlich hat diese 'Erdhummel' (Bombus terrestris) beim Verusch, sich reichlich mit Pollen einzudecken, ein ziemliches Chaos in der Blüte angerichtet.

Ausgezeichnete Aufnahmen, die das Farbenspiel so richtig zur Geltung bringen. Wie mir scheint, posieren die kleinen Erdbewohner für dich immer besonders gerne ;-)
Die Hummel auf Bild 1 ist gut getarnt und auf den ersten Blick nicht gleich auszumachen. Die Knospe des armenischen Mohns sieht im geschlossenen Zustand auch sehr beeindruckend aus.

Ich habe noch sehr viele nicht veröffentlichte Fotos ... Frage: Macht es noch Spaß, also soll ich sie zeigen, oder wird es euch treuen Lesern meines Blogs vielleicht irgendwann zu viel der Blüten und Insekten? Ich selbst als Biologe und 'Insektenfan' kann davon nie genug bekommen, deshalb kann ich manchmal nur schwer beurteilen, wie es anderen geht. :-)

Mir bereiten deine Ausflüge in Flora und Fauna immer wieder Freude und Spaß! Nicht nur wegen der gelungenen Fotos, sondern weil du gleichzeitig auch Wissen aus der Botanik und Insektenkunde vermittelst.

Weißt du, bei mir laufen DTube-Videos meist nicht besonders gut (sie stoppen oft irgendwann mittendrin oder starten erst gar nicht richtig). Das könnte durchaus auch an meinem nicht gerade schnellen Internet liegen ... Und da ich Artikel/Videos, die ich (stets manuell) upvote, auch wirklich lesen/sehen will, haben DTube-Videos derzeit keine besonders guten Karten bei mir. Das ist der Grund dafür, weshalb ich deinen Videos bisher eher wenig Beachtung schenkte - was natürlich nicht dein Fehler ist ...
Nicht, dass ich mich rechtfertigen müsste ... ich möchte nur nicht, dass du glaubst, es hätte etwas mit fehlender Qualität deiner Videos zu tun (ich vermute, dass sie ziemlich gut sind).

In letzter Zeit gab es vermehrt Serververbindungsprobleme bei Dtube, da haben Videos teilweise sehr stark verspätet bzw. garnicht geladen.
Finde ich gut, dass du wirklich nur die Beiträge votest, die du komplett gesehen hast und für gut empfindest.

Das sind ja echte Crash-Hummeln, wenn die kaputte Blüten hinterlassen... :D
Ich mag Hummeln total. Hab letztens erst wieder eine gerettet, die sich in meine Wohnung verirrt hatte, obwohl ich beim ersten Brummen dachte "Oh Gott, hoffentlich isses keine Hornisse" (da hätt ich die Flucht ergriffen).

Ich mag die Brummer auch sehr und habe sogar mal ein Video von einer erschöpften, Honig trinkenden Erdhummel hier veröffentlicht.
Übrigens sind Hornissen viel harmloser als ihr Ruf und normalerweise nicht aggressiv.

Da sind dir ganz tolle Bilder gelungen! Ich bin ja ein riesiger Fan von den beeindruckenden Mohnblumen und durfte bereits in der Schule darüber einen Vortrag halten..hihi
Wir stehen heute Nacht auf einem Feldweg zwischen einer feldartigen Wiese und einem grosszügigem Wald. In der Wiese wachsen zahlreiche Mohnblumen und der Waldboden ist mit Efeu bedeckt :D Der Duft und die Farben sind unglaublich!
Natur ist und wird niemals langweilig!
Ich würde mich sehr freuen weitere Beiträge von dir über Insekten und Blüten zu lesen ;)

Amazing colors and close up's of the bees. The orange and read really set them off, and make them look 3D in a couple of shots.
Nice you have the poppies for them to take advantage of. I do feel for the bumblebees, as I do for all of the bees. We used to keep them, had something like 20, 000, but they all had hive collapse. Twice. They are having such a time of it in the world. I think many parts of Europe have banned neonicotinoids in spraying, as that is thought to be some of the problem. We can only hope it works.
Love that last picture too. Reminds me of an electron microscope image, with the hairs in such detail. Way cool image.

Very welcome. I hope it didn't go down the rabbit hole of negativity too much. An interesting, colorful post celebrating our friend the bee and her flowers, and I kind of went a bit bummer-ecologica in my comment in the end. Not my intent to be a drag, but I'm just very passionate about our very small, very important friends. Plus I miss their honey too. Nothing like it. I try to stay positive most of the time.

Eigentlich muß man es nicht mehr erwähnen. Aber der Post ist wieder ausgezeichnet. Die Naturbeiträge gefallen mir eigentlich immer.
Hier wurde Dank Steemit (und auch Dank Deiner Posts) auch mein Interesse geweckt. Und mein Blick in und auf die Natur, auch während des Fahrradfahrens, ist ein ganz anderer geworden. Das habe ich, glaube ich, schon mal geschrieben. Aber mir ist es bei meinen Touren am Wochenende wieder sehr bewußt geworden.

Für das Pilze sammeln hat mich mein Vater ja von klein auf begeistert. Durch das "radeln" (und in den kalten Monaten wandern)komme ich nochmal zusätzlich raus in die Natur. Und durch die vielen genialen Fotobeiträge auf Steemit, gucke ich nochmal ganz anders auf die Natur als noch vor wenigen Jahren, ja Monaten.

Sehr schöne Aufnahmen, lieber @jacki01. Diese fleißigen Insekten sind nicht einfach zu fotografieren, sie halten ja nicht still.
Die Biene im ersten Bild hab ich erst beim zweiten Anschauen gefunden. Oben links im Landeanflug. Der gesammelte Pollen ist übrigens die einzige Eiweißquelle zur Ernährung der Bienen- und Hummelbrut. Die älteren Larven werden direkt mit Nektar und Pollen gefüttert, die jungen Larven werden in den ersten drei Tagen mit einer Art Kropfmilch ernährt, die von den Butpflegebienen in einer speziellen Futterdrüse gebildet wird. Die Königin erhält diesen besonderen Futtersaft ihr Leben lang.

Ich mache alle Fotos mit der gewöhnlichen Kamera meines Smartphones 'Huawei Mate 8'. Erstens bin ich kein Profi und zweitens ist ein Handy eben handy :-) und leicht, was von Vorteil ist, wenn es im Dickicht schnell gehen muss. :)

@jaki01 gewöhnliche Handyphotos sind in solchen Makro-Bereichen meist ausreichend und man ist damit viel schneller als erst die DSRL auszupacken, wenns drauf ankommt.

Ich finde es interessant, dass die Mohnblume auf Englisch 'Iranian poppy' und auf Deutsch 'Armenischer Mohn' heißt. Die Kapseln der Blume sind total schön, wie die edlere Version des Schlafmohnes.

Ja, die Bedeutungen der 'Trivialnamen', also der umgangssprachlichen Artbezeichnungen, stimmen nicht immer in allen Sprachen miteinander überein. Für viele Arten gibt es in vielen Sprachen ohnehin keine eigenen Bezeichungen - der wissenschaftliche Name ist aber stets eindeutig.

Those bees and bumblebees are very amazing. I learned more and more about those insects from you. Really great information that you provided. For me, I especially like the 'buff-tailed bumblebee' which has beautiful bright yellow strips and the white end of their abdomen.
Your close-up photos of the poppy blossoms and the insects are very excellent. I also like the unopened bud of Papaver bracteatum, really magnificent.
