Tiny Jumping Spiders IIsteemCreated with Sketch.

in photography •  7 years ago

These spiders are the smallest subject I've ever taken photos of. They are so tiny, I'm talking like 1mm long sort of tiny, and they're hard to find amongst the leaves, and I'm shooting hand held!

So with all that in mind, I have to use a high ISO so I can get a fast enough shutter speed that it's not all blurry, because the aperture has to be relatively high because I'm so zoomed in AND they're so small. That means that I've ended up with some very closeup shots, somewhat in focus, but with quite a bit of noise from the ISO.

Just to give you some kind of idea how tiny these things are, this is the leaf that the spider was on in the above picture.

I've taken photos of these types of spiders before, with some better results:

In general they're pretty plentiful, if you know where to look (and look very very closely!) and they stay pretty still for the most part, you can get right up on top of them. Would love to get one of those MPE-65 lens some day.

Nice post

Hi, This is really cool! What lens are you using? I love to take pics of bugs and nature too. Hope to continue learning from you. Thanks,

I use a Nikon D750 with a 105 mm micro

I'm using a standard 100mm Macro Lens but with a Raynox 2.5x Magnification Filter on the end. With the filter you'd be able to get that bugs face in full frame!

wow....nice camera work, bra!

amazing quality

Great photos and post! So many of our creatures go unnoticed. Thanks for sharing!

Great tips on shooting small subjects. I'm playing around more with my settings, so this helps.

The spiders are unique, I am very very. That is very interesting and creepy and I have also taken pictures like you. And got answered because there is a very creepy. And if God creates these animals it is very likely that we always run for knowing from this frightening animal. Thank you for sharing and thank you for reading my comments.

Amazing shots @jamtaylor. Your photos make them cuter and of such beauty. Before I am scared of spiders since they are scary to look at, but you gave them justice! They are too beautiful too handle. Its just amazing that photos really help the viewers to understand the subject at hand, and that is the thing where amazing photographers are built of. kudos to you!

Happiness is the main thing in destiny,
And I wish it to you.
Let it accompany in everything,
And the house is decorated with comfort.

Let every step be happy.
Happiness is the light that darkness conquers.
I Wish, that your ways

Nice very little spiders! Using a handheld strobe or ring flash setup can help get a more forgiving DOF.

So darn cuuuuuuuute! Makes me smile each time

As much as I hate spiders these look really cute.

Love those tiny ones, and the set of their eyes. Today i came across this micro lens that i would like to give a shot some day Yasuhara Nanoha
But due to the fact that subjects need to be extremely close and you most probably need to do image stacking to end up with a decent dof getting those spiders to pose would be next to impossible. but x5 magnification would be cool for 1mm subjects. Great shots, mate.

Amazing work. Like seeing under a microscope. Beautiful. 🐓🐓

looks like a very tiny cute spider but probably a little evil in its own world !

Beautiful shots @jamtaylor. I see these spiders almost every day (i live in a quiet park) & find them to be very aware, intelligent beings. Also i read that they sing to each other at a frequency we can't hear. Thanks for posting them.

Higher level of determination to your work will give you a stunning results.
