It's not even really that great of a photo, and it was taken several years ago for practice when @winstonwolfe and I still had time for date nights and photo adventures.
Right away, I was flooded with strange emotions I had never felt before. It was a weird mix of flattery and gross violation. The only place on the internet I had ever uploaded this photo was my own, private Facebook page!!
Unfortunately, there is an extremely large group of people out there who don't understand what it's like to spend so much time building a skill and a consistent product to base your business off of, just to have your work taken without being paid for.
Amazing story and amazing photograph. Thank you for sharing what happened to you and how you fought back. Wow. I'm going to look into Pixsy

Interesting, I've never heard of a service like this, I'll check it out!

trying to understand...
you pick the 500.
if you find a case, then bring it to them, and they do all the emailing to the offender, settlement negotiations, etc., correct?
You still have to do the Reverse image search, correct? (not a deal breaker, I am just trying to understand.)

No, they do that for you. You essentially give them the image to search for and they take care of it.

You can upload images and they will do the reverse image search for you on a certain number of images and you can pay for a membership for more. At least, that's how it was when I got started, but that was a couple of years ago, now.
I found mine by reverse image search on my own, however.

Does this service work for writing? Most of the stuff I post online is pretty much free to use with just a link back (creative commons, attribution only). But I am working on a book which includes some free online stories that have a traditional copyright. A service like this would be handy.

I think Pixsy is specifically for photos, but surely there is a writer's equivalent out there. I do know that there are certain steps you can take to keep your book from being lifted like disabling copy/paste on your website.

If I can find some time later, I'll do a little hunting and see if I can find a company like Pixsy that protects copy!

I'll check that out, but there are ways around the copy-paste block - like using a note-taking software. I've done this for research before.
A service like Pixsy would be good to help send out notices. Imagine how long it would take if you did all the takedown notices yourself.

Ah. Good thinking. I don't have to worry too much about my copy in any of my blog posts, really only my photos, so I haven't ever looked deeply into such a thing.

It's very cool that pixy work! I try to submit cases with this service but get only "not accepted" answer

It might have to do with the country you are in or the country the offender is in. There have been a few cases they haven't accepted for me, too, and it usually had to do with copyright laws in the country of the offender.
