"The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections."
~ Tahereh Mafi
I captured this shot of the moon this evening as the sun dissipated from the sky. This quote bt Mafi spoke to me as we remember one of the most honorable men in history, Martin Luther King, Jr. It was on this day, 50 years ago, that King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee as he was trying to promote non-violence amongst all citizens.
A man that spoke from the heart about listening to others, helping others in need and most of all, loving others was killed for sharing his message. It was a message of hope and finding common ground, even with those you staunchly disagree with.
In his last days, King spoke of feeling alone and uncertain of his future, as the quote above mentions. He spoke out against war, especially the Vietnam War, for which many, including friends abandoned him and ended friendship with him. Alone and abandoned, he steadfastly continued with his message of peace.
Though we are all full of "imperfections", we not only have the ability to change ourselves, but change the world...with a little bit of love. Just as the moon disappears from the sky and reappears the following night, we too can change from our old self one day and re-emerge as a new, better person the next day.
It truly is an honor that we have the ability to walk the same ground and breathe the same air that this wonderful man, Martin Luther King, Jr. did mere 50 years ago. And it is my hope that we all take heed his message of loving others at all cost.
One love,
Wow, really looking amazing. Great capture buddy.

"Some things in life they just don't wanna see
But if Martin Luther was living
He wouldn't let this be, no, no"
They don't care about us - Michael Jackson
Such a cruel world for King.
