Early Morning Azaleas

in photography •  6 years ago

Early this morning, before an early trek to capture some photography, I was able to take some shots of Azaleas growing at a nearby establishment. The shots were taken just as the sun was rising above the horizon.

Azaleas are one of the most beautiful flowers. Their vivid bright pink coloring draws you in. Some variations have white, red and even a purple hue on the petals. While they are quite stunning, they are also extremely toxic. Though it is rarely fatal for humans if they are exposed to this toxin, known as Grayanotoxin, it can effect other animals more strongly. In certain countries, particularly Nepal, they have been known to create "Mad Honey" in which the honeybee creates honey after consuming these toxins from an Azalea. Once the honey has been consumed, it has been known to create a hallucinogenic effect.

There are Azalea festivals all over the world celebrating this plant. These areas include the Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and the United States, as well. You can find Azaleas in multiple areas throughout the Southern United States, including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, amongst others. They have even been seen growing naturally all the way up to Pennsylvania.

Azalea flowers last for several weeks once they have bloomed and are usually found near or under trees. The best time is, of course, early spring when they are most vibrant and in full bloom. Truly a beautiful site to see.

What a colourful images depicting natural in its greatness. Your consistency is what i like about you. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful flower plant.

This is interesting. These are nothing like what we call azaleas. I know them as New Guinea Impatients. Nevertheless, they make a beautiful show.
