Saturday afternoon Dragonfly photography Part 2

in photography •  7 years ago

In addition to getting some crisp shots of brown dragonflies, I was also able to snap some macro shots of a green dragonfly this afternoon. Photos are of the dragonfly's backside, but you can make out the detailing in the furs on it's abdomen, as well as the detail in it's eyes and head. Really cool stuff! Here they are. Hope you enjoy!

In the next shot, you can see the dragonfly's head turn to the side. It was only for a split second, but thanks to rapid shots, I had some success!

In addition to the dragonfly, I was also able to capture a few shots of the Common Buckeye, or Junonia coenia, butterfly. Here are those shots:

Two very interesting species of insects. Though they do not sit still for very often, if you can get a shot of them, or even see them for that matter, count yourself lucky for that day! Hope you've enjoyed. Stay tuned for more nature photography in the near future. Can't wait to see you guys' photos on your steemit pages as well!

One love,

@jgullinese

¡Tuve suerte! ¡Gracias por el comentario! Tiene un buen dia.

The picture is very distinctive and very beautiful

The anisoptera (commonly known as dragonflies), are paleópteros, that is to say, insects that can not fold the wings on the abdomen. They are characterized by their large multifaceted eyes, their two pairs of strong transparent wings and their elongated abdomen (your photos are good and they manage to show these characteristics). They feed on mosquitoes and other small insects such as flies, bees, butterflies and moths.

Its natural habitat is in the vicinity of lakes, puddles, rivers and swamplands, since its nymphs are aquatic. Dragonflies do not bite humans and are valuable predators, since they control the populations of flies and mosquitoes, some of which transmit diseases such as dengue. Never imagine that dragonflies could help control dengue disease. New knowledge
Greetings @jgullinese.

These are fantastic!!
