Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

in photography •  7 years ago

On one of my trips to our Nation's Capital, I stopped by Arlington Cemetery, which is located in Virginia right outside of Washington D.C.

At the cemetery is what is known as "The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" which is a tomb that honors all the soldiers who have died and their remains cannot be identified.

They have a ritual known as "Changing of the Guard" where a Marine that is going off duty passes on his guardship to a fellow Marine.

Here are pictures I captured of this act and of the tomb:

Truly one of the most honorable things our country does for fallen soldiers. If you ever get the chance to visit Arlington National Cemetery, make sure you watch this occur. It will make you re-evaluate a lot of aspects of your life.

One love,

Very good shot, at the time of the changing of the guard, it is a very ceremonial and beautiful act, it is a very worthy action to highlight the thousands of soldiers fallen during the war. I love this post @jgullinese
