Trip to the Lake District!

Every year me and my best friend take a trip to the beautiful, picturesque lake district and it never ever disappoints although this time... We added a distinctive twist!

A 6 hour trip up a mountain which was equally terrifying as it was beautiful with the added pleasure of having a vicious chest infection! However this did not deter me! Having to shuffle down the side of a mountain with a 100ft drop to my right and only having a foot's worth of space between me and the fall was not a highlight of the holiday and baring in mind i slipped... it was TERRIFYING to say the least but hey ho... I'm not a quitter and i completed it! It's fair to say it will NOT be happening again!

So the beginning of the journey was beautiful. We stopped off at Keswick to take some photos and take in the beautiful sights before setting off on our mission!

So after taking some photographs of the lakeside and having a extensive walk to the Great Wood Park we where faced with what i can only as explain the most painful experience of my life!

This path swept all the way around a mountain, slowly creeping and getting steeper and steeper! Little glimmers of hope where to the left of us and how mistaken we where to be excited to think we got closer to the top... this was only THE BEGINNING and what was ahead of us was a KILLER!

After walking what seemed to be the end of the mountain we walked along a lovely pat and that's when it hit us... This is only beginning of our trek up Walla Crag as the view was not the one we expected...

After a small brisk walk up steeper and steeper we came to such a beautiful little bridge and an ideal place to have a little rest

After stopping off for a little sit down and to sort my wet shoes out... we continued! Onward and upwards!!! After another hour walk the end was surely near, right? WRONG we had only reached the half way point and i argued the view from here would do ;) although Karl was having none of that

GOOD ENOUGH,RIGHT?

So after a squabble, argument and stamping of some feet we then decided to proceed as we intended as Karl assumed we where close to the top... He was not correct i would like to add and we where greeted with this for a good 1.5 hours

So we walked for around another 2 hours and came to the peak & we had to do some scrambling to get to the peak of the mountain but the views where already beginning to look incredible

and FINALLY then we hit the top and my god was it breathtaking! Cold but still astounding and the views went on for miles

And someone was very very proud of themselves while i was still pondering my near death experience

It was a once in a life time experience and that's how its staying. Unless I'm in an aeroplane my feet are staying firmly on the ground! Karl THINKS we are going to do another one next year. He's very much wrong
One near death experience is enough for me and falling from a mountain is NOT the way i want to go

Beautiful!

And I suggest you should visit the breathtaking landscape located among the northern areas of Pakistan someday.. Trust me, my country isn't all about bombs and terror after all, the way it is shown in mainstream media! :)

Cheers!

Thank you @zaidi I have always wanted to visit Pakistan and i agree that the media portray's it so negatively that it must deter people from visiting.
Is there any locations you think are particularly nice?

Ohh.. it's a long list you know.. but just to name a few.. Nanga Parbat, K2 base camp, Deosai Plains, Hunza Valley, Fairy Meadows, Naran/Kaghan, Neelum valley, Swat.. these are the places that you can actually label as 'heaven on earth'!! No exaggeration whatsoever! :)

Google some of these locations and you'll know why I am saying this.

oh, i love trips tp the Lake District! :D maybe one day i will share some of my videos from there))

Thank you very much :) I'll keep an eye out for your videos in the future

You are do beautiful can you give your number haha

I am flattered however i am taken and it would not be appropriate to pass my number to strangers.
Thank you for the offer though @vimalsambath

Die-Hard! All the pain and suffering from the walk up was paid in full with that truly beautiful view. And such great shots. Those panorama's are beautiful!

Thank you @thetimminator ! It was worth it in the end even if it was completely freezing.

I assume the purple flowers are heather? They are beautiful. The view was spectacular, but better you than me honey. Someone would be carrying me down off the top...lol

They are indeed Heather and it made for such a beautiful view! Oh i was close to needing a helicopter to come and get me as i was terrified to go back down, haha!!

you should have fallen, or is that the wrong area for the handsome prince to fly in with his helicopter and rescue you?
The scenery was worth the effort, and you can talk about it for years, as for next year, you only live once, have a go.
