Abandoned hospitals? Explore with me! Lets go.

Welcome to my first official blog post - It's about to get real!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wander around an old hospital? Now you can

Ever since I was little I have had a taste of things weird and wonderful and by far one of the most controversial hobby’s I enjoy is wandering around and photographing abandoned buildings. You might think… Is she crazy? Potentially! But it takes different strokes for different folks and it’s an absolute thrill wandering around places you know you shouldn’t be in!

It all started when I was in college! I decided that I wanted to learn more about photography and I always loved the idea of derelict elegance a kind of beauty in the breakdown if you will and this is where it all began! My first photo shoot!!!!
I had my model, i had my camera all i needed was my location and away i went and the results where better than i could ever have imagined -

That's when it all began! I got my friends into it and my aunt into it and thing got more and more interesting from there. I'll show you a few places that i have been to!

First stop - St Mary's

Probably one of the easiest one by far - Minus repeated slaps in the face from trees and falling into a huge bog of mud! All in the fun of things i guess, haha.

St Lukes Asylum

I have may more to come but just giving you a little snippet of what i am going to be posting over the coming weeks.

Hope you enjoyed viewing

Very cool!

Thank you very much @chelsea88 :) There's lots more to come but my laptop was being a tinker earlier so had to make it a short one

One of the places we lived growing up there was an abandoned home across the road that was hidden away behind some trees. It was pretty cool to me. Do you Google how to find abadoned places? And have you ever had any strange encounters with people or otherwise?

Yeah we have a look online but some of the places we have found have just been on a whim and randomly came across them. Oh yes, there's a gentleman that wanders around one of the asylum who used to be a patient and he chases people off the grounds- he's terrifying if you're not expecting him.
I also went to an asylum near me and we where there all day and kept hearing the same voice talking in a distance and every time we went to check it out no-one was there! In the same place there's a room that's completely blocked off as someone had been killed in it and the noises from that room are beyond unsettling. You'd think someone was in pain when you walked past - The entire hospital and it's grounds are very unsettling and made me and the people i visited with nervous and feeling sick the entire time we visited

Oh wow. Did you take pics of the room (outside of it)? That's so creepy, I was thinking you must find stuff like that! How long do these structures get to stay up, I wonder what is the rhyme or reason of when they get torn down, guess it all just depends

@chelsea88 i do have some photos of the room an through the little holes in the boarding around it. I'll hunt them out for you this week and show you them :) It depends really one of the first hospitals i ever went to was derelict around 10 years ago and demolition has only just occured on the building. Usually depends on funding etc :)

I am relatively close to crownsville and forest haven. Def want to check them out. Some crazy creepy places I'm sure....

I presume, like here, the govt stopped funding the hospital, it was cheeper to sent the patients into the community in small groups, and hope they took their pills etc, rather than maintain and staff hospitals.

@len.george some of them unfortunatly is the case and others i have been to have been individually owned etc and the land is being developed on which is a shame as some of the buildings are truly beautiful.

Very nice. The black and white photos are very cool. They lend themselves to more of a dark despairing story than the colour ones.

I haven't snuck into places for sooooo long. I still remember the thrill of doing it though.

Keep yourself safe while adventuring. I'll look forward to some more photos from dark and mysterious places...... like Grimsby. (oooooo... just the name of it sends shivers down my spine)

@trevor.george thank you very much! I've got a mixture of photos from every location I have been to & I'm looking forward to posting some more in the future just got to organize my photos haha :)

It's certainly a big thrill and some of the locations are huge and they take an entire day to look around in!

I will always be safe and we always take precautions before we leave to adventure. I haven't been to Grimsby but i shall add it to my list :)
