Celestial Affair 27 July 2018 Durban South Africa
Last night Mars was at its closest to Earth in 15 years with lunar eclipse the longest of the century, let me share my adventure from 08:14 PM through to 11:58 PM. Absolutely delighted the clouds had stayed away for this exciting nocturnal affair.
08-14 PM - Looking good,everything is where it should be...
08-30 PM - One small bite starting from the bottom right...
08-39 PM - Moving quite quickly across within minutes it is evident the shadow is growing deeper..
09-02 PM - Keeping an eye on Mars. Both appeared to have the pink tinge at this point in time with lighting.
09-17 PM - Starting to blush with a splash of pink.
09-23 PM - Keeping an eye on Mars. (Setting sail in tall ships, advice would be to steer by Mars tonight and not the moon she may hide for awhile.)
09-25 PM - Really taking on the look we have been waiting to see, curiously the animals and night birds seem to go quiet with the moon darkening over, unless that was my imagination.
10-31 PM - Rely on Mars to find the Moon, now the camera is not able to pick up the moon very clearly at all.
11-54 PM - Clouds arrived to add to swirling changes carrying on above, moving out into the open, taking on it's silver magic losing it's blush.
11-58 PM - Before turning in, 'or turning into a frozen pumpkin' one last shot of an evening of pure magic, knowing this is an extremely rare occasion, I really hope many enjoyed the night.

We had a strange cold wind blow through, around 10 pm I realised I was frozen well still standing out there in slip-slops, shorts and T-shirt not surprised... Did not want to miss anything @papilloncharity
