The Viewing Tower on Pyramidenkogel - vertical Panorama

in photography •  6 years ago

I think that's the first vertical panorama I've ever done.

Ich glaube, das ist das erste vertikale Panorama, das ich je gemacht habe.

After the rain, that has been going on for days, has subsided, and blue spots, which are also called sky, have appeared between the clouds, we have decided to drive up to the Pyramidenkogel in Keutschach and take some pictures of the lookout tower, and then of course also to shoot some landscape photos from above.

The landscape photos will then be shown in the next few days.

ISO 100 • f/9 • 1/320 sec • @200 mm - 17 landscape images

Both photos were taken from a rest area next to the parking lot under the lookout tower, the second being the vertical panorama, which consists of 17 photos in landscape mode, shot at 200mm focal length. Unfortunately, I can not upload the panorama here in full resolution.

Greetings to you, my Dear friend @Johannpiber! You were able to convey the dizzying height of this tower. The first thing I noticed is the steps. To go up, or to wait when the elevator is free, is a very narrow choice. I remembered my travels in Odessa. I didn’t really want to go up the Potemkin stairs, I waited for the cable car. But as it turned out, the wait was very long and I had to walk. After a long walk around the city, it was not the easiest solution)) Great panorama! Once, I took a vertical panoramic picture, but, already forgot about this feature. Thank you for reminding.

Good evening, my friend @barski 😊

I just have googled the Potemkin stairs - there are a few steps more up the tower (441 Tower : 192 Potemkin stairs), but the steps on the stairs are bigger, I think. I did not use the elevator - the elevator is for tourists, and I am no tourist, but now my right foot hurts ;)

Thank you for your nice words, and have a good night, my friend @barski :)

first of

and blue spots, which are also called sky, have appeared

I love that line I may well steal it LOL

What a cool tower, looks liek some good exercise to go up those stairs do you know how many there are

I used to have trouble doing verticle panoramas and stopped doing them but I think that was before I had lightroom and photoshop I must try one again sometime

... you can have it 🎁 but maybe I'll use it again 😉

There are 441 steps made of steel, and because you always have the full view of the landscape outside, stepping up is easy ;) ... or you can use the elevator ;)

I guess, I better should have used a tilt-shift lens, but I don't have one lol
We sat there after visiting the tower, and I thought "why not making a vertical panorama?" and it worked better than I have thought :) The rest of the work was was done by Lightroom and Photoshop.

More info about the tower: https://www.pyramidenkogel.info/en/viewing-tower/

For the info about the tower in the link was interesting to visit
That’s not to many steps but not to little either and I would happily have gone up the stairs but I bet there’s many who make use of the elevator

In summertime you will have to wait at the entrance, because of the tourists, as I said before, and then you will have to wait at the elevator, because most tourists don't want to walk up.

As long as I can walk without a rollator I will use my own feet ;) ... and I do not go to such places in the main tourist season anyway.

I am the same even though walking up the Vessel which I did recently played havoc on my knees now way was I going to take the elevator Veen if it didn’t have a queue, in fact I pushed myself and walked quickly right u0p tot he top, then slowly made y way down taking photos I was so achy the next day but proud of myself, next time I will do the reverse slowly go up stopping to take shots as I go lOL

Yesterday I have also learned that I should better walk slower:
I have failed to see a few overview boards with the names of mountain peaks, which can be seen from the tower.
So, I am able to name only a few mountains on the panorama photo for my today's blog post ... and my right foot still hurts ;)

My today's motto would be: slow down - see more :)

That’s a good motto to have before getting back into photography I yelled to walk so fast and now I generally take slow walks always looking around and observing and my legs and back do thank me for that

I always have to force myself to walk slower and look more around, and you are right, our old bodies prefer slower and easier movements ;)

That is a fantastic work of architecture and photo too!

Thank you very much, Ross 😊

Gosh! Quite a weird looking tower! It could have been on Mars!

Others say beautiful or futuristic, @kaminchan, but I think, that weird matches somehow too - a good kind of weird ;)

Impressive tower. I am looking forward to seeing the landscape photos.

Thank you very much, @nelinoeva 😊
I haven't seen these photos myself yet, but I think, they should be quite nice, showing the lake Wörthersee :)

Wow, nice Panorama Tower on Pyramidenkogel photography.

Thank you for this comment, @kamrunnahar, and that you like my photos 😊

hello @johannpiber
Beautiful architecture of this tower.
Awesome photograph my friend..

I thank you so much for the nice comment on my photos, @tussar11 :)

Howdy again sir johannpiber! That's an amazing tower! I bet that's fun to go up there but it looks like you have to be in pretty good condition!

Hello @janton :) Thank you, that tower is really an amazing building.
About 441 steps are not so much, and there's an elevator too ;)

howdy tonight sir johannpiber! oh, 441 steps aren't much? wow you must be in great shape!
I like stairs but I might take the elevator if it's hot.

In the tourist season I would not take the elevator, @janton, because it is not so big and because of that, you might have to wait for ages ;)
You have a great view all the way up. For this reason you will not notice the 441 steps :)

oh that makes perfect sense sir johannpiber. I would want to rest a few times anyway and at those points it would be nice to see the grand views! And that's in Austria?

Yes, @janton, it is in Carinthia, the southernmost province of Austria :)

ok that name sounds familiar, I love the sound of that name.

It's one of the best places on earth, @janton :) ... one of the best places I know ;)
